Somaliland’s Historical Election for Change set for Tomorrow 26th of June 2010
SIRAG would like to congratulate the Voters of Somaliland for campaigning peacefully for this Historical Election for Change taking place tomorrow on 26th of June in Somaliland.
On this great day Somalilanders all over the world will also be celebrating for Somaliland’s 50th anniversry of independence gained from the Brisih Empire on 26th of June 1960 where 35 countries including 5 member states of the Security Council have recognised Somaliland.
Somaliland’s political leaders supported by the the elite of Somaliland’s Intellectuals living in the Diaspora and in Somaliland have shown a great level of competence, maturity and patience in listening to the inspiration of the Somaliland voters who are voting for Change. We hope the current leader of Somaliland would accept this change just as the way he accepted to go for elections. This would set a good example of role model for the African Continent which have suffered for the last decades from undemocratic system of governance.
We would like to thank Somaliland ‘s Friends for their patience and expertise in helping Somaliland’s case towards recognition, development and democratisation. Somaliland has so far shown a great level of maturity and commitment to adopt the proces of democratization which had its many challenges.
We seek the support of the International Community to strenghten Somaliland’s peace, stability, development and democratisation. We finally call for the International Community to recognise and accept the sovereingty of the Republic of Somaliland which will only contribute to the stability and security of the whole region. Blocking Somaliland’s Recognition will only deteriorate the stability and security of the region encouraging Somalia’s chaos to come into somaliland through the backdoors.
We hope the International Community will learn from this historical election held by a young african muslim nation inspiring to adopt democracy as its way of life to meet 21st century challenges where threats of extermism is becoming a constant threat to the civilization of humanity.
